The Huguenot Society of Maryland

Membership Requirements

To become a member of our Society, we require that you are:
  • at least 18 years of age or older
  • you adhere to the Huguenot principles of religious freedom and liberty
  • you descend lineally (directly) in the male or female line from a Huguenot who, subsequent to Dec. 10, 1520 and prior to the promulgation on Nov. 28, 1787 of the Edict of Toleration, emigrated from France to North America or some other country
  • or are lineally descended from a Huguenot who, in spite of religious persecution, remained in France (The word "France" means any territory lying within the Kingdom of France on the date of the promulgation of the Edict of Toleration on Nov. 28, 1787.)
 
Persons who are under 18 years of age may become Junior Members if they adhere to the Huguenot principles of religious freedom and liberty, and who fulfill the requirements as previously defined above.
 
 
How to Become a Member
Candidates for membership must descend from a Huguenot (as explained above), submit lineage information, and provide copies of records and documents to support their application.
